Optotune’s tunable prism delivers the next generation of optical image stabilization. Our novel system of inserting optical liquid between two actuated glass windows offer additional design freedom in achieving high frequency or high tilting angle. Explore the great number of combinations of these values and tune it to match your application’s needs.
Whether it’s constructing the highest quality binocular or a compact laser rangefinder, Optotune’s adaptive optics provides the perfect tool that modern imaging systems demand.
- Large 17 mm clear aperture
- Up to 1° optical tilt angle
- 7 Hz open loop full scale bandwidth
- Optical image stabilization up to 20 Hz
- Compact housing
- Smooth and noiseless movement
Optotune’s tunable prisms (TP) are adaptive optical components that enable dynamic beam steering in a compact form factor. Unlike traditional fixed prisms, they can actively adjust the optical path in two axes, allowing precise control of image position, beam alignment, or optical stabilization.
At the core of the technology is Optotune’s proven liquid-based optical platform, using a high quality, low-dispersion liquid to support excellent optical performance. The result is a fast, compact, and reliable solution for applications where static optics are no longer enough.
Optotune’s tunable prisms replace both traditional mechanical, and newer electromechanical (e.g. gimbal or lens shifting) optical image stabilization techniques. Its compact, all-in-one solution outperforms these alternatives both in optical performance and user experience. Its smooth and noiseless operation convinces stakeholders upon the first trial. The optical quality and technical specifications satisfy needs from entry level to premium products.
OIS in action
View through a handheld laser rangefinder, shown with and without optical image stabilization (OIS). Even at a relatively low magnification of 6×, as shown in this video, natural hand movements already create noticeable image shake and reduce the user experience. At higher magnifications, the benefit of OIS becomes even more pronounced.
Product variants
Large clear aperture, high tilt, high speed OIS
The TP-17-25 tunable prism from Optotune offers a compact, high performance optical image stabilization (OIS) solution. Its smooth movement can easily compensate hand movement caused vibrations and thus deliver superb user experience both for rangefinders and binoculars. Our robust design guarantees long life span and high reliability in a wide range of outdoor conditions.
